We have over 40 years of experience enjoying and walking in the Lake District. We provide maps, directions, advice and so much more. This is a family-run guest house with a personal interest in ensuring you get the best from your holiday.
From biodegradable bin liners and phosphate-free household products to mulching the garden with spent brewery hops, we work tirelessly to ensure the guest house is as environmentally friendly as possible. We even go to enormous lengths to recycle the soft plastic wrapping from our linen company to try to reduce our overall environmental impact. Our distillery is 100% powered by renewable energy.

Year-round, we enjoy amazing wildlife in our acre of gardens and grounds - see the above pictures kindly supplied by guests. Our resident badger clan have their main sett just 5m from the house, giving you ample opportunity to observe them. We put out suitable food at a regular time most evenings. You can also see recorded badger and deer videos taken on our trail camera, and shown on a display panel in the comfort of the guest lounge.

Eight rooms and suites of different sizes - two fully self-catering. Each totally unique, some with the original slate exposed walls: perfect for couples, families and groups. Dog Friendly
Both our accommodation at Lake View and our pub The Distiller's Arms are completely dog friendly, with no extra charge. We enjoy an acre of grounds and a path to Grasmere Lake. Pup paradise!
Just a short distance up the lane is our pub The Distiller's Arms. We are open from breakfast (9 or 9:30 depending on the season) through until the evening.
Enjoy food and drink including all Grasmere Brewery and Distillery beer, lager, cider, gin and vodka.

Come and experience our badgers, buzzards and barn owls! Beyond the garden, a private path leads to Grasmere Lake shore. A peaceful shoreline awaits you: sit, ‘wild’ swim or paddle board and always enjoy our incredible wildlife (including otters) and amazing views. Perfect for nature lovers, artists, photographers and budding ornithologists! Fishing rights are included with your stay.
Tucked away in our grounds is our own Grasmere Distillery. It's a working site employing locals, producing small-scale experimental products. We blend traditional distillation on copper pot stills, with the finest oak casks, using adventurous techniques from our brewery roots. It's fully powered by renewable energy, since we recycle the used vegetable oil from our tap room to make steam to heat our copper pot stills.
