Set in an acre of lawns, orchards, and gardens, Lake View has private access to Grasmere lake-shore and the River Rothay. We are lucky enough to have fishing rights, and the perfect spot to launch paddle boards.
We are dog-friendly, and love having children to stay with us. Our private path to Grasmere lake-shore makes a perfect stroll for those with little or four legs!
In one corner of the gardens you will find The Dome - our quirky geo-dome - which is let out to guests during the summer months at room-only or bed and breakfast tariffs. If you include breakfast in the cost of your stay, it is served at The Good Sport, 8.30 - 11am. Enjoy 10% off food and drink at any other time, including Grasmere Brewery beers. Please ask if you are interested in this unique glamping experience! Click here for more information about each of our rooms, or BOOK HERE →
In our acre of grounds you can find flowers in every season, sheltered by mature bushes and trees. We have an active planting programme, and deliberately cultivate plants to support the local bee and dragonfly populations.
You will usually see many kinds of birds, and each year a good number nest in and around the property. We also have a small bat colony. We are privileged to have a badger sett in our garden, with many outlets, often hidden under bushes! They are very shy, but you can often hear them in the late evening. In the main entrance lounge you can see short clips of their nocturnal activities captured at various times using our badger-cam! We also have a red squirrel who occasionally visits, especially in the morning. In the winter months, deer often make their way into the garden.
The beauty of the Lake District National Park is right on our doorstep, from the peaks of Helm Crag to the gentle meander of Grasmere lake and Rydal Water. It is possible to spend your whole holiday walking direct from our door, without ever having to get in your car. We are a very short stroll from Grasmere's historic sites, restaurants and shops.
