We have five self-catering apartments. All are dog-friendly.

The Shiel is a spectacularly beautiful, modern, fully self-catering apartment, built on two floors of a recent barn conversion. With private parking and private entrance, and beautiful views, it offers a secluded retreat for a couple or a couple plus infant. As with all our other suites, The Shiel has the added bonus of the facilities provided by the rest of house – stunning south facing grounds with outdoor seating, a gorgeous guest lounge/conservatory with walking maps and clear badger-viewing (!), and of course our infra-red sauna and exercise bike in our dedicated Sauna room.

Our lovely, modern, ground-floor, fully self-catering apartments Cottage and Garden are each recently updated. Each has a private entrance, private parking and outdoor seating. Cottage and Garden each provide easy accessibility and may be ideal for couples, groups of friends or families with dogs. ​

Cottage can sleep up to five people - a king-size double in the main bedroom, and one double and one single sofa bed in the living area. Garden can sleep up to four people in two separate sleeping areas, with a king-size double in the main bedroom and two single sofa beds in the large living area. Both of these two apartments have a similar kitchenette unit with twin hob, combi-microwave including oven and grill functions, and a fridge with small freezer compartment. Crockery, cutlery and utensils are in each room so you can make meals.

Penthouse is our totally unique, stunning self-catering suite. Situated on our second (top) floor, Penthouse boasts an unparallelled, large sun terrace with fantastic panoramic views of the local mountains and ridges, our gardens and Grasmere Lake. Take in the fell tops at a glance from your private terrace – Helm Crag, the Fairfield Horseshoe, Stone Arthur, Heron Pike, Nab Scar, Loughrigg, Dow Bank and Silver How. Too beautiful to miss! Penthouse sleeps up to three adults with extra room for a cot if required. 

Riverside is a very spacious, first floor, self-catering suite with stunning views of Grasmere Lake and the surrounding mountains. Penthouse and Riverside are both extraordinary, superior apartments within the main house and ideal for couples on their own, or with a child, or for small groups of friends. Each includes a well-equipped ‘mini kitchen’ with equipment and utensils, along with a dining table and chairs for your convenience. Both superior apartments include a very large bathroom with a roll-top, free-standing bath and a separate, spacious, rain-forest shower.​
